Network Planning and Optimisation

Core element of any infrastructure organisation is the optimal planning and design of its network be it a telecom, utility or a transport organisation. In the context of telecoms, I worked since the mid-2000s on tools and methodologies to optimise and streamline the deployment of next generation access and core networks. This included the introduction of AI tools to automate large part of the network design process for major projects such as the Venue design for the London Olympics 2012 (BCS IT Award Finalist) as well as several FTTP projects rolling out GPON in the access network across Asia Pac and EMEA. In more recent roles, I worked across mobile and fixed networks planning large scale infrastructure upgrades and also on how to merge and integrate networks across organisations to deliver synergies and economies of scale.
